Climate Finance Methods
Editorial Method
How a research note moves from a question to a bounded conclusion.
Every Climate Finance Methods note uses a common sequence.
Define the decision
We state the question, intended reader, unit of analysis, time horizon, and decision that the work can inform. A method is weak when its output has no clear use.
Mark the system boundary
We identify what is included, excluded, estimated, or delegated to another model. We distinguish an absent value from a zero value.
Trace evidence and assumptions
We prefer primary standards and official technical material. We separate observed data, model output, scenario input, judgment, and proxy. A source link does not remove the need to describe how the source is used.
Test sensitivity
We ask which reasonable change can alter the result. This can be a discount rate, emissions boundary, scenario, time horizon, attribution method, or data-quality treatment.
Report the limit
We state what the result does not establish. The publication does not present educational research notes as personalized financial advice or a prediction of investment performance.
